Joining Lab4SLC

Undergraduate students join a laboratory in the autumn semester of their third year, following a preference survey in the spring. Graduate applicants select their intended laboratory when applying and join it upon enrollment.

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome students who:

  • Are interested in language and language technologies
  • Want to work with both written and spoken language
  • Want to develop AI technologies or use them to create innovative applications

Laboratory Visits and Consultations for Prospective Students

Prospective students are welcome to contact us at any time to arrange a laboratory visit or discuss graduate study. Applications from working professionals are also welcome.

Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Applicants

For applicants seeking graduate school admission with a Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship, Lab4SLC considers only applicants applying through Embassy Recommendation. We do not accept MEXT Scholarship applicants through University Recommendation.

Important Note: Teaching and day-to-day research activities in Lab4SLC are conducted primarily in Japanese. As a laboratory requirement, undergraduate and master’s students must therefore have Japanese proficiency equivalent to JLPT N1 to participate effectively. Prospective doctoral students should contact us in advance to discuss the level of Japanese proficiency needed for their research plan.
